Its that time of year again, time to get ready for that skiing / snowboarding holiday.
Is it not strange that most people do very little exercise throughout the year and then decide to embark on a skiing / snowboarding holiday with virtually no physical preparation.
Is it any wonder there are so many injuries associated with this this physically demanding sport.
DO NOT TRY TO SKI/BOARD YOURSELF INTO SHAPE!!
The most common Skiing / Snowboarding injury is a knee injury. It stands to reason that the stronger your leg are the less chance there is of sustaining an injury. You would be surprised at how many people have injured their knees at some point in their lives and do not realise that they have weak knees and are therefore predisposed to a serious injury. This weakness is easily identified and most often can be corrected when following a well designed exercise program.
General fitness levels have a major bearing on accidents, injuries and overall enjoyment. A lapse of concentration due to lack of conditioning at a crucial moment could be disastrous. People who are fit have the ability to cope with physically challenging situations which may mean the difference between a minor accident or a close call.
Increased bone density from regular exercise may be the difference between a few superficial bumps or bruises or a broken limb.
Core & Balance training will also have a major impact on your skiing / boarding ability
