Exercising after the birth of a child is in my opinion seriously under-valued.
I am going to be a bit blunt here, if you want this information to be candy coated I cannot help, so let's get to the truth.
Too often I see young mums who are serioulsy overweight, and I have come to the conclusion that post pregnancy is possibly more challenging for these young mums than most people realise. With the cost of living, the breakdown of the extended family unit and modern day pressures of life in Britian, I think young mums feel quite desperate and deserted.
Combine this with the post- preganancy weight gain and post- preganancy depression, coping becomes a real task.
This brings me to an extremely important point. If the lower back is not stretched and the core and abdominal muscles are not strengthened after the birth, there is a good chance that you will sustain a back injury especially if you had a caesarian birth. Cutting through the stomach muscles destroys your midsection strength and stability. As the child starts to grow and get heavier, lifting him/her will increase the risk even further. It is not unusual to sustain a life changing back injury caused by this combination of factors.
The list goes on..........
Lastly... if you have got this far down the page... You should agree that you owe it to yourself and your child to get in to shape?
