BETTER BACKS

If there was ever a good enough reason to exercise this is it!

Of all the injuries you could be unlucky enough incur, a back injury ensures that you will remain bed ridden. There is a perception that as we age we should expect to have lower back problems.

THIS IS A COMPLETE FALLACY!

EXERCISE TO REDUCE RISK OF LOWER BACK PAIN

The body is made up of bones, forming the skeleton.

The skeleton is held into position by muscles.

Muscles need to be exercised to retain muscle tone (tension).

If the muscle tone is not maintained, the bones will not be held in place and can become displaced, specifically the vertebrae.

The vertebrae encase the spinal cord. The nerves which control every muscle in our body attach to the spinal cord through small spaces between the vertebrae .

If the vertebrae are displaced, they can press on the nerves, thus causing pain.

This may cause a host of problems such as:

  • Nerve impingement
  • Perforated cervical discs
  • Tight muscles
  • Exhausted muscles
  • Headaches
  • Neck pain
  • Numb limbs and many other ailments.
