If you are embarking on a career with the Army or the Territorial Army, you have come to the right place.
We will prepare you for your fitness test, which you should pass with flying colours.
Your current physical condition and fitness levels will determine how long it will take you to acquire the correct level of fitness to pass the test. One of the most common reasons that applicants to the Army & T/A do not make the grade is due to failing the fitness test. The recruit training is fairly challenging and the fitter you are when you start the easier the training will be.
All new recruits will need to pass a Basic Fitness Test, known as the Physical Standards Selection for Recruits (PSSR)

We will train you to pass the PSSR which includes a variety of key fitness requirements, depending on which job you will be applying for.
PHYSICAL SELECTION (Upper Body)
Includes a variety of strength exercises to test the strength of your upper body including,
JERRY CAN TEST
Carrying 2 x 20kg Jerry Cans back and forth for as long as possible.
PHYSICAL FITNESS
Completed as a group in the form of relays to observe team work, attitude and effort level
ENDURANCE
This is a pass or fail test, which may mean being deferred for a period of time. Many females battle with this test
1.5 mile (2.4km) run (Time requirement is determined by gender and job role)
